She’s letting us all know we’re not alone!

Michelle Obama announces a new book entitled “The Light We Carry.”

Four years ago, the Forever First Lady released her memoir, “Becoming,” which has since sold more than 17 million copies across the globe, the Associated Press reports. Its sales have surpassed those of any former first lady or president, including her husband Barack Obama. Since the book’s release, she has gone on a tour, released an edition for young readers, and launched a podcast and documentary about the tour.

Reflection

Now Obama has taken to social media to announce her plans for a new book entitled “The Light We Carry,” a loving guide of sorts to help readers navigate the most challenging of times.

“Like so many of you, I’ve spent a lot of time these past few years thinking about how to keep myself centered in a world filled with so much uncertainty. That process of reflection actually led me to start writing again…I never thought I would be the author of one book, let alone two. But I’ve found that writing this has been a way for me to gather my thoughts and find more clarity during this time. So, I hope this book means as much to you as it does to me,” wrote Obama.

The book is a collection of principles and stories that Obama has learned through her experience as a mother, daughter, wife, and First Lady to help “successfully adapt to change and overcome various obstacles.” The Forever First Lady said she was inspired by the current state of the world and all that’s going on which left her feeling “out of balance and vulnerable.” Through reflection, Obama said she spoke to her loved ones about all that was happening and decided to create a toolbox from those reflections featuring best practices that helped her stay grounded, sharing them with others in an effort to help us all develop new tools for coping.

“Mrs. Obama offers readers a series of fresh stories and insightful reflections on change, challenge, and power, including her belief that when we light up for others, we can illuminate the richness and potential of the world around us, discovering deeper truths and new pathways for progress,” reads an announcement via Random House Publishing and its Crown imprint.

“The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times” is set for release on November 15th in 14 languages and 27 countries simultaneously. Penguin Random House has also announced the renaming of its annual writing prize in her honor. The $10,000 Michelle Obama Award for Memoir is a program for public high school students that the publisher first introduced in 1993.
