What: Terrence Roberts, one of a small group of African-American students who desegregated Little Rock Central High School in 1957, will join elementary school students for a parade honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

Despite a federal court order that called for desegregation of schools, angry protestors and Arkansas National Guardsmen prevented the students from entering the school. President Eisenhower stepped in, ordering federal troops to protect the “Little Rock Nine” for the school year.

Who: Terrence Roberts, civil rights figure, and 200 Cedar Crest Elementary students

When: Friday, Jan. 15, 10 a.m.

Where: Downtown Park, 10201 NE Fourth St. by the children’s playground/restrooms
